ACCESS STATEMENT
THE GOLDEN FLEECE HOTEL, MARKET PLACE, THIRSK
The Golden Fleece Hotel stands on the market square in the centre of Thirsk.
We have 23 rooms offering double, twin, and single accommodation. Extra beds to create a family room can be provided in some rooms.

There is a taxi rank situated nearby and we can make a booking for you.
The main bus station is within easy walking distance
The railway station is within 2 miles of the hotel.

ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES
There is a disabled parking bay situated at the rear of the hotel.
The hotel has a level front entrance with doors that can be hooked back to hold them open.
Guests can be dropped off close to the front door and there is a dropped kerb close to the entrance to the cobbled market square.
There is a side door to the hotel with two steps and a grab rail on either side.
Parking is available on the cobbled market square with access to the front door of the hotel.
At the back of the hotel there is a level private tarmac car park with easy level access to both the front and side doors.
There is a bell at the front door of the hotel which is low enough to be reached from a wheelchair.
If you require assistance with luggage please ask at reception.
There are no lifts in the hotel.
MAIN ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION
There are no steps within the reception area.
When entering through the front door the reception desk is straight in front of you.
We are happy to help you with completion of the hotel registration card
The floor surface in the reception area is carpeted.
The front door is locked after 11.00 pm a key to the side door can be provided for residents. Staff will stay up to let in late guests by request.
There are two steps in the reception area and the hotel has a mobile ramp.
RESTAURANT
The main restaurant is located on the right hand side of the reception area.
There are no steps to or in the restaurant.
The restaurant is table service only. Continental Breakfast is self service with waitresses on hand to serve cooked breakfast and give assistance.
The Furniture can be moved on request
The seating is chairs with no arms.
Natural daylight is limited and there are table lamps and overhead lights. For evening meals lighting is low level with candles on the table. Lighting can be increased at certain tables if required.
We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff on booking.
FUNCTION ROOMS – Ground Floor
The Richmond Room
Is situated up two steps and a mobile ramp can be provided for wheelchair access.
Furniture can be moved on request
Good natural light and overhead chandeliers. In the evening tables may be lit by candles. Additional lighting can be arranged on request.
The Writing Room
At the left of the front door with level access. It has good natural daylight, table lamps and overhead lighting.
BAR
There is level access into the bar from the reception area. Within the bar there are three steps with handrails to either side.
There is a second door in the upper area of the bar with level access across to the Richmond room.
PUBLIC AREAS
Water and food bowls can be provided for dogs on request.
Toilets
The Gentlemen’s toilet is on the ground floor. It has one cubicle.
Staff at reception can arrange for disabled ladies to use this toilet if necessary. Not suitable for wheelchair use. Grab rails?

Not available within the hotel. The hotel is situated on the market square with good access to banks, supermarkets and a wide range of shops.
Leisure Facilities
Not available within the hotel. There are facilities for swimming, golf, a cinema and many attractions nearby.

The hotel is an old building and bedrooms are located on three floors. Some floors have a slight slope.
The hotel does not have a lift.
FUNCTION ROOMS
The Ryedale Room: This charming meeting room has good natural daylight and can be arranged to suit individual occasions.
The Farmers Room: This charming meeting room has good natural daylight and can be arranged to suit individual occasions.

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities
All bedrooms have luggage racks.
Bedding is all non feather
Flooring is short pile carpet
Lighting levels are controllable
The furniture is flexible in the rooms and items can be moved on request.
Non smoking rooms
Twin or double bed combinations are available
Housekeeping staff are aware of procedures to aid privacy in bedrooms.
Emergency procedures are clearly written in large print.
